... in addition, the estate contains a sauna, which is functioning based on a very old method - almost as a "smoke sauna". There are not many saunas left in Lithuania, which would still work in this old way. The core of this method is that while the wood is being burned, it heats the stones, which are placed within the chimney of the sauna. It usually takes up to 4-5 hours to heat the stones. After the stones have been heated, the water is poured on the rocks. The first steam from heated rocks contains black ashes and is let out through the chimney. Once the rocks have been "washed", the chimney is closed. Then, when the water is poured on the rocks, the hot steam enters the sauna and heats it.
Instructions on how to use the sauna are provided to the visitors inside the house. The firewood is supplied.
